Art Galleries & Museums

Arizona’s works of art have a variety of inspirations, from Native American history and Old West tales to the state’s renowned natural features.

These influences and more can be seen in Arizona’s galleries and museums, where countless pieces of art, crafts and other artifacts can be found. Ranging from traditional oil paintings of Southwestern landscapes to avant-garde sculpture and beyond, Arizona has a flourishing art scene across every inch of the state, from major cities to remote desert communities.

Art Galleries

Whether you’re a novice collector or an avid enthusiast, Arizona art galleries are sure to entice you.

In Old Town Scottsdale, dozens of galleries – including many offering Native American and Western art – open their doors during the traditional Thursday night Scottsdale ArtWalk. Meanwhile, in downtown Phoenix, thousands of locals and tourists take to the streets for a laid-back self-guided art walk during First Fridays.

In North Central Arizona, Sedona, Arizona’s original artist’s community, is a top destination for art lovers, while historic Jerome has also become a haven for artists and artisans.

Museums

Art, culture and history museums dot the state of Arizona, offering visitors plenty to look at and explore. In the Phoenix area, the Heard Museum – including both a main museum and two smaller outposts – offers an outstanding collection of Arizona Native American art, artifacts, crafts, photography and other cultural and historical exhibits.

Just down the road, the Phoenix Art Museum houses more than 17,000 works of classic and modern art, as well as playing host to traveling exhibitions from world-famous artists.

In Southern Arizona, the Tucson Museum of Art and Historic Block exhibits American Western and Latin American art, as well as contemporary and modern art.

Further north, in Prescott, the Phippen Museum showcases the art and heritage of the American West, while Flagstaff culture and art aficionados turn to the Museum of Northern Arizona.
