Adventure Sports

Ready for an adrenaline rush? Arizona offers a range of extreme sports, and off-road adventures to keep you exhilarated all day long.

Off-Road Vehicle Tours

Make Arizona your playground with off-highway vehicle tours. Popular locations include Flagstaff’s San Francisco Peaks volcanic field, where more than 400 cinder cones make for fun terrain. Meanwhile, Sedona’s four-wheel-drive vehicle tours will take you nearly straight up and down the city’s massive red rock formations. And along Arizona's West Coast, the Yuma Sand Dunes offer plenty of fun for off-road vehicles.

Rock Climbing

With challenging canyons and soaring mountains, adventure-seekers can pick from an exciting menu of rock climbing options. In Prescott, rock climbers head for the outcroppings of Watson Lake or the world-class cliffs of the Granite Mountain Wilderness Area northwest of town. In Phoenix, Camelback Mountain's distinctive silhouette dominates the city's northern skyline, beckoning rock climbers only minutes from downtown.

Gliding, Skydiving and Ultralite Planes

Experience the thrill of a lifetime – in the air. In Arizona, there are dozens of beautiful locations best seen from above, while gliding, skydiving or flying an ultralite plane:

  • Gliding
Get a new view of Arizona’s majestic scenery. From the Navajo Nation and Flagstaff in the north to locations in the Greater Phoenix area, gliders in Arizona will see natural beauty in a completely different way.
  • Skydiving
In Arizona, you can test your courage at the world’s largest skydiving resort – which also includes an indoor facility – in Eloy, located halfway between Phoenix and Tucson, or glimpse Sedona’s red rocks as you parachute to the ground. With several facilities across the state, Arizona’s exhilarating views from the top down will definitely leave a lasting impression.
  • Ultralites
These popular aircraft allow everyone the thrilling and exciting experience of flight. Arizona is home to several facilities that provide lessons, then allow you to fly over the amazing Arizona landscape. Arizona’s West Coast offers a school in Quartzsite, as do the Southern Arizona cities of Willcox and Tombstone. Visitors to the Greater Phoenix area will want to check out schools in Phoenix and Peoria.
